Blessed Rain

I don’t know whether it’s a good thing or not, but it looks like we are going to be blessed with a little more rain. I know a lot of people are saying that they’re dry in their areas, but we have had more than out fair share in north Alabama. I’m beginning to think that I’m going to start growing mushrooms. I’d love to be able to go out and enjoy some sunshine or even to be able to open the shades and let the sunshine in.

I guess I shouldn’t complain because since it has been rainy and we’ve been reminded to stay safe at home, I”ve been writing up a storm. I’m nearing 300 pages in my current work in progress and that’s a lot of writing.

So, even if the country is starting to open up again, remember that the virus is not gone. Stay home. Stay safe. Stay well.

And maybe you can write 300 pages too.

Staying Busy

Funny how it’s so hard to keep track of what day it is. It isn’t as though my schedule has changed. It’s the same as it always has been. You know, my commute to work is all the way from my bedroom to my office on the other side of the house, yet these days, I’m never quite sure if it’s Monday or Friday.

The good news is that I’m making progress on the book. Just went past 250 pages which means only about 50-75 more till the end. I’ve really been enjoying getting to know these characters and I hope you will too when the draft is all finished and polished up.

Today is going to be busier than usual. I’ve already been up and gone to the grocery store during the senior hours, come back, put everything and still had time to type in another nine pages. Now I’m heading to the other room and do my morning half mile on the treadmill. A little early, since I have a dental appointment this afternoon. Wow, such a busy girl.

Yesterday I took Miss Kitty for her annual rabies shot. She was not a happy camper. She yowled all the way over, and pouted all the way back. She did get over it by supper time. Nothing like a half can of Friskies to make a cat forgive you.

Anyway, after being locked in for so long, life seems to be returning closer to normal. I’m still mostly staying home, but I’m getting out to do things I need to do.

I still miss going to the movies, though.

On Track

Happy Tuesday. I’m still socially distant, but I’m starting to venture out a little more often. As an introverted writer, I’m used to being at home, but that doesn’t mean I’m a hermit. Frankly, I was beginning to feel trapped.

Our governor has loosened the reins a little and it feels less like being stuck at home, and more like usual. I have been able to go to buy plants for my garden, and being able to be outside has helped a lot. (I do not go out during my designated writing hours.)

I had been making really good progress on the book, but last week I ended up having a repairman and some workmen in connected to my dryer which wouldn’t dry. Once the dryer was fixed, then I had to have the air vent cleaned out. So that meant two days in a row interrupted. On the positive side, it was people to talk to.

So, I’m back on track today, and I still expect to have the first draft of Remy’s Redemption finished by the end of the month.

First Draft

There’s one thing good about being in a stay at home order.

I have time to get so much writing done. Today I surpassed 200 pages. So unless something disastrous happens, I should finish the first draft of this book tentatively called Remy’s Redemption by the end of May.

Of course, i haven’t cleaned any closets out as so many other people have done. Maybe I can tackle them in the few weeks I’ll let this book sit before I go back and review and rewrite and polish.

In the meantime, regardless of whether we’re are released from stay at home now or later, be careful.

Stay Home.

Stay Safe.

Stay Well.

All The Blame

Blame it on the coronavirus or the stay at home order, but I lot track of what day it was.

So, I did not do my regular post yesterday. I almost forgot today.

I’m finally starting to venture. One of my sons had been shopping for me, but now he has strep, so I figured it was time for me to go. Amazing how uplifting it was just to drive myself to the drugstore and the grocery store.

At least I have been making great progress on the book. I’m just past the halfway point and my characters, of course, are suggesting ideas that I hadn’t though of.

That’s all. Just remember, this should be over soon.

Stay home. Stay safe. Stay well.

A Happy Report

I’m happy to report that I have exceeded the number of pages that I accidentally deleted, so I’m back on track. And I did it less time that the original pages. I guess that’s one advantage of being socially distanced, or as I call it, under house arrest.

I’m at the point now that I have a nice batch of gray roots showing along with my red hair. I cannot even say that’s my real color, because it isn’t. It cannot possibly be. I’m really looking forward to the end of sheltering at home, so that I can go out and get my hair done. And a manicure as well.

So for now, I’m writing and catching up on my reading. I’ve even dug into the pile of free books I’d collected from various conferences to keep from running my Amazon account up too high from ordering books.

So that’s what’s happening with me.

Stay home. Stay safe. Stay well.

Isolation and Writing

I think this is only the end of the third week of isolation. Funny, how my day to day schedule hasn’t really changed, but there’s something about not being able to go out even if I don’t really need to that makes my want to go.

Silly, huh? I know that I do not want to be infected, and I do not want to see this awful disease continue to spread. So, I will stay home as much as I can, and I will write.

I have nearly reached the page count I had when I had my disaster, even if my characters have given new ideas and the story isn’t quite the same as it was before, it’s probably better for the changes.

My son just called and told me that he’d picked up my grocery order, so I’ll get to visit him from afar, and that will be. But it would be nice if I could have a hug.I miss hugs,

Good Progress

I thought I was going to have to report that I’d caught the virus, but it was a false alarm. I did catch a virus according to my doctor, just not THE virus. Score one for me. I’m better and really tired of being at home.

I’ve been making good progress on the book. I’m nearly to the point where I left off when I lost all those pages. Of course, as I recreated, I changed things so it won’t be a perfect recreation, but that’s just as well. If my characters don’t stop me and tell me what to write, then I’m doing something wrong. Must be all right then.

Working Hard

One of the advantages of being a writer and working at home is that when you’re supposed to social distance and self-quarantine, it doesn’t upset your routine that much.

In the meantime, I’ve been working like crazy recreating my lost pages. Making progress.

Stay Safe

One thing good about being isolated at home: I have plenty of time to work on recreating the pages I lost. At this point I’m about halfway there. After all, I don’t go out much anymore, anyway. And being isolated at home is more the rule rather than the exception.

I’ve been hoping to be able to get outside and get my garden ready to go, but we’ve had so much rain that I practically sink up to my ankles walking across the back yard. Even just being outside in the sun would be a big improvement over looking out at all those gunmetal gray skies,

Like social distancing, that too should pass.

So enjoy you time alone. Catch up on tv shows you’ve missed and read a good book or two.

Stay home. Stay safe. Stay well.
