Recommendation!

The sun is shining!

Therefore, I am in a much better frame of mind today. It’s amazing how a bright sun and a blue sky can change your attitude. It may be 28 degrees outside, but I am not,and I can look outside and appreciate that I’m not. I am at my desk, warm and cosy inside.

I read a book last week that I want to recommend. It’s not romance, but historical fiction. It’s called BEFORE WE WERE YOURS by Lisa Wingate. The story takes place during the Great Depression when the Tennessee Children’s Home Society was taking children from poor families and offering them to wealthy families for, sometimes, very high fees. The book is written from the points of view of some of the children who were taken from loving, though poor, families and offered to families with money. Often they were taken by trickery and false promises. This is juxtaposed with the alternate point of view of a modern woman just learning of this scandal and discovering that a family member may have been one of those children.

Though it touches a difficult subject, BEFORE WE WERE YOURS is a compelling story and well worth your time.
