Sneak Peek

Good morning. After having spent a lot of time twiddling my thumbs and having not much to do, I took a moment to check my Kindle to see just how many books I had read in the time of Coronavirus. I was startled to see that I have read 31 books since the stay/safer at home orders began. That doesn’t count the two or three times I reread my book in progress in the course of editing, polishing and proofing. And of course, I wrote a book during that time. Not too shabby, and especially considering I also worked dozens of sudoku and crossword puzzles. And I still had time to be bored.

🙂

However, I have some good news to share now too. Here is a sneak peek at the cover of The Redemption of Remy Lambert. I’m hoping it will be available at Amazon in mid to late September.

Are you ready? Enjoy!

Fireflies and Summer Nights

I’ve been spending a lot of time watching fireflies lately. I’ve lived in this house for 20 years, and they’ve always been here on summer nights, but for some reason this year I really noticed them. First, I’d promised my granddaughters that we could catch them on Memorial Day. In the past, I’ve always started seeing them around Memorial Day. This time they weren’t there and we waited and waited and no fireflies. However, that’s when I realized that Memorial Day was early this year, and it just wasn’t their time yet. They were on their time schedule not mine. And by the end of that week, they made their regular appearances and it was glorious.

I guess the point I’m making is that everything happens in its own time. It reminds me that I need to stop being impatient about how fast my book isn’t getting ready. I had some unexpected glitches getting it ready to go to production, but it will be ready in it’s own time, and when The Redemption of Remy Lambert is ready …

It will be FABULOUS.

Mock Up Cover

Aha, it’s still Tuesday so I didn’t miss my window.

Today was one of those running around days all day and I haven’t had much opportunity to sit at the computer.

I have sent cover ideas to my cover artist, so I hope I have a mock up of the cover to share soon.

The Stars Are Aligned

Hey, I actually remembered what day it is and I’m posting early in the day even after having to get up and get dressed and grocery shop during senior hours.

As a result of getting the five star review some nice artwork has been made available to me for promo purposes. It has a bit of the review on it, and it shows the little crowned heart that comes with a five star review.

In spite of my nice reviews sales have been slow. Funny, I would have thought they’d be much better since so many people are at home twiddling their thumbs.

Anyway, here it is. Feel free to share with your friends who like to read.

What Day Is It?

I’ve lost track of what day it is again. I guess it’s not that important what day it is, but I’m supposed to do an update on Tuesday, and I forgot. Not that there’s much to update about.

I’m in the throes of polishing and editing The Redemption of Remy Lambert, really enjoying the story, and suddenly I discovered a continuity error and now I’m taking it apart and trying to get it put back together in the right order. That’s what happens when you do too much cutting and pasting.

Anyway, I think I’ve about gotten it fixed, and I’ll soon have something to show off.

Back to Work

I’m finally back to work polishing and editing The Redemption of Remy Lambert. I may be the mother of this particular story but I’m still pretty proud of how it’s reading so far.

I have found a pretty good piece of stock art I might send off to my cover artist that looks like I imagine Remy Lambert to look like. So maybe soon I can show you something more concrete than just telling you what I’m doing.

Loving Becoming Lady Washington

I tried several different ways to post a picture of Betty Bolte’s book BECOMING LADY WASHINGTON, and couldn’t figure out how to do it and add my plug at the same time. I’m thoroughly enjoying this book. Anyone who likes history and a good read will love this book. You should have gotten a separate post with a link to it.

Nothing new on the writing front for me. I’m still catching up on all the appointments that had to be cancelled while we were in shut down mode. I think i should be able to get back to work on it next week. Cross your fingers.

Happenings

It seems like things keep happening right after I’ve posted my weekly, Tuesday update. Last Tuesday afternoon, I received my copy of In D’tale, the online romance review magazine. Anyway, to make a long story short, I received a five-star review of my March book, Out of Control. OOC is still available from Amazon, so if you haven’t read it, there’s still time.

In the meantime, I’m about to start polishing the draft of The Redemption of Remy Lambert which tells the story of teens Jenn and Remy, secondary characters in Out of Control, when they come together as adults ten years later.

I had the opportunity to attend a book launch last week for Becoming Lady Washington, by Betty Bolte. It is a historical novel about Martha Washington and her life with our first president. Still haven’t read it, but I can be certain that anything in it will have been methodically researched and accurate as well as a wonderful story. Looking forward to reading my copy soon.

Beginning of Summer

Summer’s here.

Suddenly I’m finding myself with nothing to do and nowhere to go thanks to the current pandemic.

Wasn’t I busily writing last week? Yes, I was. And I typed THE END last Thursday. Now, in the interest or separating myself from the book, I’m deliberately staying away from Remy and Jenn so I can look at them from a little bit of distance when I go back to edit and polish. It’s amazing the number of mistakes and typos you find after being away. So, I’m catching up on appointments, going to the grocery store, and getting some of those things taken care of that the deep stay at home order made me miss.

Maybe I’ll run into you while I’m carefully venturing out. I’d live to give you a big hug, but that’s going to have to wait for a while. So, I guess we’ll just have to settle for a cheerful hello and a happy wave.

Fun News

I had a nice surprise last week. I have been officially recognized by RWA as having 25 published novels. It doesn’t mean much, but I get a pin. Still, it’s fun news to report.

I have been hunkered down diligently working on the novel in progress and I expect to finish it this week. Of course, that is only the draft. After I’ve let it sit for a week or two or three, I’ll have to go through it and fill in some blanks, tie up some loose ends and generally polish it up.

So for a couple of weeks, at least, I’ll be able to clean out closets which apparently everybody else has already done and maybe finish getting my flower beds done.

Now that the sun is shining more than the clouds are dumping rain, I think we may reach the turning point of this very rainy, very secluded beginning of 2020.

The pandemic is still not over till it’s over. Stay home. Stay safe. Stay well.
